Academics
Religion is at the heart of all we do. Every student has Religion class every day. We follow the standards set forth by the Diocese of Brooklyn. This year we are including the Social Justice curriculum which is based on the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching which include Solidarity, Family and Rights of Workers. Every day begins and ends with prayer. Our students attend Masses and prayer services regularly.
We follow the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards for daily instruction in both Math and ELA. Teachers collaborate with one another, so that each year builds on the skills taught the year before. These standards are also incorporated into our Social Studies and Science curriculum. Our students use the Lab Learner Science program which provides hands-on learning in our Science Lab spiraling from Kindergarten through Grade 8.
In addition, students receive weekly instruction in Art, Music, Physical Education, Technology and Library.
Early Childhood
Our school has a contract with the NYC Department of Education to provide the free 3K and PK For All programs. Our three- and four-year-olds learn through play, experience and the development of positive relationships. These engaging and creative experiences spark the imagination and prepare children for learning in Reading, Math and Scientific thinking. The children will experience whole and small group lessons, center time, and development of gross motor skills in outdoor play. In addition, children develop the social and emotional skills needed to build relationships, problem solve and become a member of a community. Studies show that early childhood education improves performance throughout a child’s school experience. Learn More
